Scott and his wife, Rhonda (his high school sweetheart), spend time enjoying Bruce Springsteen concerts across the country and rooting for the Tarheels. Dr. Welch likes to try out new hobbies, such as backpacking, motorcycling, skiing and sailing. When Scott and Rhonda can, they enjoy spending time traveling to places all over the world, including Europe and the Caribbean. If you get a chance, ask him about “flossing across the world.”
Dr. Welch values giving back to the community. After reaching the rank of Eagle Scout, he knew that he wanted to be active in scouting as an adult. He has served as Scoutmaster and Assistant Scoutmaster with his original scout troop 68 of Jamestown, which he was active in since age 11. He has also held positions of leadership at the district and council levels of the Old North State Council of the Boy Scouts of America. In addition to scouting, Dr. Welch volunteers at Guilford County Adult Dental Clinic, providing dental services to those in need.
